About this listing
Overview Club Almirante Brown is La Fragata, the black-and-yellow football club of La Matanza on the western edge of Greater Buenos Aires, playing in Primera Nacional, Argentina's second division, at the 25,000-capacity Estadio Fragata Presidente Sarmiento in Isidro Casanova. The stripes came from a Uruguayan club's kit, the only shirts available in the shops when the club first went looking. The name honors Admiral William Brown, the Argentine naval commander. Women's football, tennis, hockey, futsal and handball run alongside the professional team. Matchday The Fragata Sarmiento stands at the corner of Rucci and Marmol in Isidro Casanova and opened on June 14, 1969, with a 105 by 70 meter pitch. The derby is Nueva Chicago. Almirante won it 3-1 away in Mataderos in August 2025. The club's social headquarters sits in San Justo, and its training ground, the Luis Mendoza sports city, is next to the stadium. Track record The club was founded on July 1, 1912 in San Justo and was re-formed in 1922 and 1942. It climbed the Argentine pyramid with titles in the Tercera de Ascenso in 1956 and Primera C in 1965, and won Primera B Metropolitana three times, in 2006-07, 2009-10 and 2020, the last of which took it up to Primera Nacional. Brand presence Deals are seasonal. Renewal options are tied to performance and brand fit, and the positions sold include the lower back of the shirt and the back of the shorts. The club's Marketing Department approves every design and placement in advance. Alcohol, tobacco and betting brands go through an internal legal and compliance review, and using a player's image or the stadium in advertising needs its own clause in the contract.
