About this listing
Overview The Formula 1 United States Grand Prix is raced at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, a 3.426-mile, 20-turn counterclockwise track that starts every lap with a climb of more than 11% to the hairpin at Turn 1. Hermann Tilke drew the layout with promoter Tavo Hellmund and motorcycle champion Kevin Schwantz, borrowing corners in the spirit of Silverstone, Hockenheim and Istanbul Park. The race has run at COTA every year since 2012 except 2020, under a deal that runs through 2034, and in 2025 it was one of six sprint weekends on the calendar. The circuit sits on about 890 acres in southeastern Travis County and also hosts MotoGP, NASCAR and IndyCar. On site Race weekend spreads across the whole property: the F1 Fan Zone, the COTALAND family area, grandstands around the lap, and the 251-foot observation tower with its double-helix staircase. The Germania Insurance Amphitheater, which holds about 14,000, carries a concert on the Saturday night; Justin Timberlake played in 2017, Britney Spears and Bruno Mars in 2018, and Post Malone was booked for 2026. For 2026 COTA added a Thursday of its own, with F1 Academy on track, pit lane walks and fan villages, and opened the Guest House at Turn 20, a permanent hospitality building with a rooftop terrace. Shuttles run from downtown Austin and the Travis County Expo Center, and many fans camp in RVs on site. Audience Most of the crowd travels. COTA's fan research puts 36% of attendees from Texas and 19% from California, with Florida, Colorado, Illinois and New York next, and 9% from outside the United States. The average visitor stays four nights. More of them call themselves casual fans than core fans, and nearly half say they are very likely to come back. Track record The 2022 race drew 440,000 people across the weekend, the largest of the five Grand Prix crowds Formula 1 lists above 350,000. Lewis Hamilton won five of the first six races at COTA; Max Verstappen won in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025. The race has carried a different title partner across its recent editions: Aramco in 2022, Lenovo in 2023 and MSC Cruises in 2025. Brand presence Beside Formula 1's global partners and the race's title partner, F1 and COTA sell two local tiers. An F1 Founding Partner gets official designation, category exclusivity in the United States, F1 imagery and a marketing lock-up, and digital reach through F1.com, the F1 app and F1's YouTube; a COTA F1 Event Partner gets official designation and COTA's own site, app and Instagram. Both can take activation space in the Fan Zone or name an activation there, sample, collect data and run ticket promotions. Signage runs from TV-visible trackside boards and branded grandstands to the big screens, the campus TV system and the spectator shuttles, and hospitality ranges from general admission to the Paddock Club.
