About this listing
Overview Race World Offshore is an offshore powerboat racing series in which the fastest boats run past 150 mph on five-mile courses laid close to the beach, 15 laps and 75 miles a race. Its seasons close in November with the Key West World Championship; the 2026 calendar before it ran Atlantic City, Michigan City in Indiana and Clearwater. The American Power Boat Association sanctions the series. In March 2026 Race World Offshore, founded by Larry Bleil, signed a 10-year agreement with the Union Internationale Motonautique that made it the UIM's official promoter in North America and gave Key West official world championship status for Class 1 and Class 2. On site Starts are rolling. Boats line up deck to deck, each carrying a driver and a throttleman. The classes run from Class 1 catamarans of 40 to 55 feet with unlimited horsepower down to single-engine vee bottoms and bracket classes. Between heats the race boats sit in the dry pits, where fans walk up to the teams, drivers and throttlemen. Key West stretches the format over a week: the World's Fastest Boat Parade opens it through the middle of town, races run on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and a race village at Truman Waterfront Park is open daily, with VIP viewing, catering and driver meet-and-greets. A plane or helicopter flies the course for an hour before each race and through to the finish to watch for protected sea life. Audience The series says its fans travel out of town for races and come back year after year, and that team owners tend to upgrade to boats from the same manufacturer. It also says its fans are twice as likely to have served in the military or as first responders. About 90% of its events fall in the Eastern Time Zone. Track record The series puts the Key West World Championship's local impact at $32.8 million over eight days, a figure built on 5,000 attendees, 400 of them international visitors from 15 countries. Lodging took $19.75 million of it, and the week raised more than $750,000 for local charities. Race World Offshore had programming on CBS Sports in its first season, and Michigan City signed on for multiple years under the 2026 UIM agreement. Brand presence A title sponsor can put its name on the whole series; XINSURANCE took the title of the UIM World Championship Series and Key West in 2026. Official partners get decals on every race boat, category sponsors add exclusivity, and a race title sponsor names a single weekend, with its mark on press releases, signage, trophies and VIP wristbands. Series partners get branded mentions on the RTH TV livestream, leaderboard overlays and a 20-by-20-foot footprint at each race. Sunoco supplies the official race fuel and Tunaskin the official apparel, and partners can add boat appearances at their own offices, pace boat rides and a grand marshal slot.
