Overview Turf Wars is a traveling adult kickball tournament, by its own account the first kickball organization to air on ESPN, and its 2026 tour ran 13 weekends, from New Orleans in February to Randall's Island in Manhattan, Gatlinburg and Las Vegas, and on to national championships in Auburn and Austin. It started in 2013 as an adult league in Charlotte, founded by friends who went to watch a childhood friend play, and the Charlotte tournament reached its 8th year in 2026. Main Attraction Recreational Sports produces it. On site Stops run over a weekend in one of four formats: traditional tournaments, Midnight Madness events such as the Las Vegas Open and the Mesa nationals, Battle of the States weekends in Tampa and Auburn, and special events. In 2026 the special events included an Orlando resort weekend at ChampionsGate and a tournament on the University of Utah campus. Turf Wars builds its stops with city convention and visitors bureaus and sports-tourism groups. Audience Players come as teams and bracket into divisions: coed advanced and social, women's advanced, men's only, and divisions for LGBTQ players, players 40 and over, and adaptive athletes. Track record Turf Wars says ESPN invited it on air in 2022, gave it a prime-time slot in 2023 and signed it to a streaming deal on ESPN3 in 2024. It describes itself as the only kickball organization shown on ESPN in its entirety.
