Overview The Crested Butte Arts Festival is the longest-running cultural event in Crested Butte, Colorado. For one weekend each summer, juried artists from across the country show their works on Elk Avenue, in historic downtown Crested Butte. On site Well over a hundred artists, exhibiting work in twelve separate fine art categories, show at the festival running Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. Patrons walk the street, meet painters, jewelers, sculptors and woodworkers at their booths, and buy directly from them. Live music plays on the Entertainment Stage. Families make art in the Art Alley tent, collectors bid in the Art Auction tent, and there is a Patron Lounge, a beer and wine garden, an info and merchandise tent, and a Friday night film screening. Each of those spaces can carry one sponsor's name and branding. Audience An estimated 12,000 patrons attend the event. Nearly half come from Colorado and a fifth from Texas. The crowd skews female and spans every age group, with the largest share between 55 and 64. More than a quarter of surveyed patrons report household income above $200,000, and 45 percent own real estate in Gunnison County. A majority are second-home owners who come to buy original art to furnish their mountain properties. Talent and Influencers The artists are the draw. A jury selects the field each year, and the roster covers painting, photography, ceramics, glass, jewelry, fiber, wood and metal sculpture. Regional bands and performers hold the main stage across the weekend, a live emcee keeps the crowd moving between venues, and local artists get their own showcase. Long Legacy The festival has been a fixture cultural attraction for generations and is billed as Colorado's premier high-country art event. It reaches about 307,000 digital impressions a year through its website, newsletter and social channels, and it advertises in the Crested Butte News, the Gunnison Country Times, Crested Butte Magazine, Mountain Living and Colorado Homes and Lifestyles. Brand presence Signature Properties presents the festival. Gunnison Valley Health, WM, LIV Sotheby's International Realty and Alpenglow Elevated sponsor venues, and Natural Grocers, Crested Butte Lodging and Butte Financial are official sponsors. Media partners include Mountain Living and The Colorado Sun.
