About this listing
Overview Portland Farmers Market is the nonprofit that runs five of Portland's farmers markets, and its flagship on the Portland State University campus trades every Saturday of the year, with as many as 120 vendor stalls and up to 9,000 shoppers on a summer Saturday. The sellers are the region's growers, ranchers, fishers, foragers, bakers, food artisans and craft beverage producers. Four neighborhood markets fill the rest of the week: King and Lents International on Sundays, Shemanski Park and Kenton on Wednesdays. The organization dates to 1992, and it says it is frequently ranked among the top ten farmers markets in the world. On site The PSU market sets up in downtown Portland on Saturday mornings and runs to 2 p.m. Shemanski Park is the midweek lunch market, in the South Park Blocks under a canopy of trees with more than 25 vendors. King sits one block south of the Alberta Arts District beside King School Park, with up to 30 farmer and food booths on a Sunday. Kenton runs on Wednesday afternoons into the evening in North Portland's historic Kenton business district, with live music and kids' activities. Lents International, on SE 92nd Avenue, is built around fresh and culturally relevant produce for the diverse neighborhood around it. Every market runs Double Up Food Bucks, and Chef in the Market brings local chefs in to demonstrate cooking with the season's produce. Audience The markets run every week, and the PSU market averages about 6,700 shoppers a week, rising and falling with the season and the weather. Its crowd is Portland-area residents and chefs alongside visitors from around the world. Shemanski Park serves downtown workers, residents and tourists at lunch; King, Kenton and Lents are neighborhood markets for residents and families with children. In the market's own shopper surveys, shoppers name health, sustainability, community, farm-fresh food and supporting small local business as what they care about. Brand presence Sponsorship is built around market days. A neighborhood sponsor takes a single market, with a banner on site, a promotional booth on up to six market days and a logo on that market's webpage and newsletter. An annual sponsor covers the flagship and up to four neighborhood markets, with a booth on up to twelve market days and collateral at the market info booths. One presenting sponsorship is sold a year: a booth on up to twenty market days, a mention at every special event across all five markets, the chance to host a special event at a market and an at-market sponsor spotlight video. Single-day exhibitor spots are sold separately.
