Overview The Albany COMBOS Marathon and Half Marathon runs a flat, USATF-certified Boston qualifying course through Albany, Georgia, carries the name of the snack made at the Mars Wrigley plant in town, and gives its proceeds to the Willson Hospice House, an inpatient hospice in Albany. It began in 2007 as the Snickers Marathon and took the Combos name for the 2023 race, after the Snickers Energy Bar was discontinued; Mars Wrigley has made Combos in Albany since 1978. The March 2026 race was the 20th running. On site Both races start at 7 a.m. on Front Street next to Veterans Park and finish at RiverFront Park behind the Albany Welcome Center. The 2025 route took Oglethorpe Boulevard past Albany State University's West Campus and the Willson Hospice House, then Doublegate, Lake Park, Rawson Circle, Hilsman Park, the Thronateeska Heritage Museum and the old train depot. Water and medical stations sit every two miles, entertainment runs along the course and the time limit is seven hours. A PR Bell hangs at the finish. Race weekend adds a free Health and Fitness Expo, a pasta dinner and post-race festivities, and in 2026 more than 1,000 volunteers worked it. Audience Runners travel in for it. The 2026 registrations came from 29 states beyond Georgia plus Bolivia and Mexico, and 2025 drew runners from 22 other states, Ukraine, Canada and the Netherlands. Track record More than 30,000 runners from all 50 states have run Albany since 2007. By 2026 the race had given more than $365,000 to the Willson Hospice House. Brand presence Mars Wrigley's Combos carries the name, and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital was the other platinum sponsor in 2026. Sponsors take display booths at the expo and the post-race festivities, banners at the start and finish, logos on volunteer shirts and inserts in every registration packet. Pieces of the race are sold one at a time: the pasta dinner, the course clocks, the PR Bell, a single mile marker, even the porta-potties.
