About this listing
Overview Another Planet Entertainment is the largest independent concert promoter in the U.S. and the exclusive promoter for seven venues, from a 550-capacity club to two rooms that hold 8,500. One partnership covers the portfolio: The Independent, the Castro Theatre and Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, the Fox Theater in Oakland, the Greek Theatre at UC Berkeley, Channel 24 in Sacramento and The Bellwether in Los Angeles. Shows run year-round; the open-air Greek plays spring to fall. On site The Greek is an outdoor amphitheater on the Berkeley campus, with a lawn, new concrete curb seating and stone tiers facing a classical stage wall. Bill Graham Civic takes 8,500 on a general admission floor and converts to tiered theater seating. The Fox is a restored movie palace with the Telegraph Room for upgraded ticket holders and a bar called The Den. The Castro, an LGBTQ+ landmark, came back with a standing configuration and a raked seated floor. Channel 24 has a tiered balcony, a VIP room and an upstairs open-air patio. The Bellwether wraps its ballroom in a 180-degree balcony and adds Camille's event space, the Looking Glass Lounge and a patio. Audience Crowds skew young and affluent. People aged 25 to 34 lead at most rooms, 43% at The Independent, while Bill Graham Civic runs youngest, 35% aged 18 to 24. Between a quarter and 42% of guests report household income over $125,000, highest at Channel 24 and the Greek. The Independent sells 92% of its available tickets per show. The rooms span San Francisco, the East Bay, Sacramento and downtown LA. Talent and Influencers APE has promoted Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, Adele, Lady Gaga, Metallica, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney and Olivia Rodrigo. The Grateful Dead have played the Greek 29 times. Big acts book The Independent to play small, among them Metallica, Green Day, The Killers and Phoebe Bridgers, and Dave Chappelle has done comedy there. The Fox has hosted Prince, Ed Sheeran and Ms. Lauryn Hill, and the Castro reopened with a Sam Smith residency. Track record Billboard has named APE Top Independent Promoter in the U.S. twice and worldwide once. The company brought the Fox back after four decades dark through a $75M renovation, built Channel 24 from the ground up and restored the Castro's ceiling, murals, chandelier and marquee. The Greek was the first major music venue to run a venue-wide composting program. APE also produces Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park. Brand presence Lyft sits on the partner roster at all seven venues, Bulleit and Don Julio pour at nearly every bar, and beer and seltzer brands vary by venue. Mastercard runs cardmember presales at Bill Graham Civic, Square appears on the Castro's partner wall and Wente Vineyards is the Greek's official wine sponsor. Premium rooms such as the Telegraph Room, the Looking Glass Lounge and Channel 24's VIP room host upgraded guests and private events. Each venue promotes its calendar through paid media, a show-announcement email list and its own social channels.
