About this listing

Overview The April Fools Half Marathon and 8K runs more than eight miles on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, flat and beside the ocean, and every runner 21 and over gets a ticket for a free beer or seltzer at Margaritaville or the LandShark Bar and Grill at the finish. It is the spring race of the Atlantic City Marathon Race Series, whose flagship Atlantic City Marathon dates to 1958 and bills itself as the third-oldest continuing marathon in the United States. The series is a department of the Marjorie and Lewis Katz JCC of Atlantic County, a nonprofit, and its races support local charities and the JCC's early childhood scholarships. On site Both races share a start and finish on the Boardwalk. The half goes off at 8 a.m. and the 8K fifteen minutes later. Every finisher gets a custom medal and a technical shirt, and the race hands out costume awards at 10:30. Bibs are picked up before race day at Dick's Sporting Goods or the Hard Rock Hotel, and spectators follow runners on a live tracking app. Prize money goes three deep in each race, and faster runners can apply for elite entry. Audience It is a travel race. Across the series, 78% of visitors came from outside Atlantic County, each runner brought an average of 1.87 people, and 1,450 visitors booked hotel rooms over race weekends, per the series' 2025 sponsorship deck. Its marketing drew runners from every state and 11 countries. Track record The series credits its races with more than 600 jobs supported and average spending of $243.29 per runner in Atlantic City. AmeriHealth was the race's named sponsor in 2026. Brand presence The April Fools race can carry its own presenting sponsor on a two-year commitment, with a booth at the series expo, logos at the start and finish and on every mile marker, the chance to present medals, and a giveaway in each participant bag. The series title sponsor sits above that on a three-year term, with industry exclusivity and its name joined to the whole Atlantic City Marathon Race Series. Single-race buys cover the pace car, hydration stations, the finish line, course signage and the digital race photos.
