About this listing

Overview Artisphere is Greenville, South Carolina's signature arts festival, held every Mother's Day weekend on Main Street downtown. For three days the street closes from Court Street to Wardlaw Street, and the festival crosses the Liberty Bridge over Falls Park to the lawn at the Grand Bohemian Lodge. Admission is free. A local nonprofit produces it, and Prisma Health is the presenting sponsor. On site Artist Row runs the length of Main Street with about 140 juried artists selling ceramics, painting, glass, jewelry, photography, woodwork and fiber from their own booths. Demo Row shows makers at work, Kidsphere runs free crafts, and hands-on exhibits from Clemson and Furman line the route. Music, dance, theatre and aerial acts fill the Broad Street Main Stage, the Grand Lawn and pop-up street stages. VIP patrons get a tented lounge with food and drinks and an opening night party. Sponsors can name a stage, the VIP lounge, an exhibit or the kids' area, or run a 10x10 activation on the festival route. Audience Families, art buyers, downtown residents and people from across the Upstate walk the route over the weekend, and about a third of the crowd travels in from outside the area and books hotels on Main Street. Mother's Day weekend brings out groups of three generations at once. Free entry means the crowd spans first-time buyers and serious collectors. Talent and Influencers Artist Row is picked by a jury from more than a thousand applications, and dozens of artists show in Greenville for the first time each spring. Touring soul, country, Americana and rock acts headline the WYFF4 Broad Street Main Stage. Local performers fill the rest of the program, from the SC Children's Theatre, International Ballet and the Palmetto Statesmen to Furman jazz combos and SC Governor's School for the Arts & Humanities ensembles. Hundreds of local visual and performing artists and student artists take part. Track record Artisphere has filled downtown Greenville every spring since the mid-2000s and draws more than 80,000 people across the weekend. USA Today 10Best readers have ranked it among the best art festivals in the country, with a first-place finish on its record. Through artist stipends, awards, scholarships and grants to local arts groups it has put more than a million dollars back into the community. Brand presence Prisma Health presents the festival. WYFF4 names the Broad Street Main Stage, PNC the pop-up street stages, Metromont the aerial arts amphitheatre and Furman University the Artists on the Rise Stage, while Clemson and adidas run hands-on exhibits on the street. Duke Energy, GE Vernova, United Community, Coldwell Banker Caine, TD Bank and Huntington are among the corporate partners, with dozens of local firms joining as patrons. Sponsors are credited in the Festival Guide and on artisphere.org.
