About this listing
Overview Austin FC is Austin's Major League Soccer club and the first major league team the city ever had, and by the club's 2025 count every home match at Q2 Stadium had sold out from its 2021 opening, with a paid season-ticket waitlist the club puts at 15,500. Anthony Precourt's Two Oak Ventures founded it in 2018, and it began play in 2021. Matthew McConaughey joined the ownership group in 2019 as its Minister of Culture. The crest is a pair of intertwined oaks, and in 2024 the club added an armadillo for the Armadillo World Headquarters. Matchday Q2 Stadium opened in June 2021 on a 24-acre former chemical plant site at McKalla Place in North Austin, with 20,738 seats, and in 2024 CapMetro opened McKalla station on the Red Line to serve it. The supporters' section, sections 101 to 105, is safe standing and general admission: people stand for 90 minutes, wear the colors and know the songs, with La Murga de Austin's drums and trumpets driving them. The "Verde!" "Listos!" call and response is the club's own; McConaughey led it at the first supporters' practice in the stadium in 2021. Concessions run to local names - in 2025 La Barbecue had a stand - and the ground is cashless. The west stand gets the shade; the east side sits in full sun until sunset. Audience The support is organized and spreads past the city. Los Verdes counted about 1,400 members before the first home match in 2021 and organizes watch parties; Austin Anthem's grackle went on the club's first away kit; supporter chapters include the Fighting Leslies in Washington, D.C., and Oak Army in New Braunfels. Track record The club reached the Western Conference final in 2022, its second season. Its own figures put the average season-ticket renewal rate at 91 percent and growth on its digital and social channels at 252 percent year over year. A Wakefield Research study of one current partner found that fans who recalled the partnership rated that brand 74.1 percent higher on relevance, 57 percent higher on preference and 55.7 percent higher on trust, and reported 108 percent higher usage. Q2 Stadium has also hosted the U.S. men's and women's national teams, the 2021 Gold Cup semifinals, Copa América group matches in 2024 and the 2025 MLS All-Star Game. Brand presence YETI wore the shirt front from 2021 through 2024, and Siete Foods took it over in 2025. Q2, the Austin online-banking company, holds the stadium name. The club sells partnerships as one integrated plan across matchday, its media channels and community work, built around a partner's regional goals, and the stadium's year-round calendar of national-team matches, tournaments and concerts runs through the same building.
