Overview The AvMed Orange Bowl Beach Run is a 5K and 10K on the roads and paved paths of South Beach, starting and finishing in South Pointe Park, and runners are asked to wear their college colors in the weeks before the Capital One Orange Bowl. It runs in December, and proceeds go to Orange Bowl Cares, the committee's community program. The Orange Bowl Committee is a nonprofit created in 1935 to bring visitors to South Florida through the bowl game; its 410-plus volunteer members and staff of 30 put on more than 50 events a year. On site The start goes at 7:30 a.m. The course loops through South Beach with the ocean alongside and comes back to the park. Every finisher gets a medal and a race shirt, age-group awards run across 16 brackets from 9 and under to 80 and over, and children 12 and under run a free kids dash. At the finish line in the park there are food trucks, live music and drinks, with the bar limited to 21 and over. Audience The two distances split the field: the race bills the 10K for serious racers and the 5K for casual runners and walkers, and the kids dash brings in younger children. Companies enter as teams, and sponsor packages include corporate team entries. Track record More than 700 runners pre-registered in 2023, when the race ran on December 2 with Celebrity Cruises as presenting partner and proceeds went to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami. Orange Bowl and its partners have committed more than $50 million to South Florida over two decades, including more than $25 million to rebuild public parks since 2009. Brand presence AvMed holds the title. Below it there is a presenting position and associate partners, who get exhibit space at the finish line, sampling or giveaways, their logo on the race shirt and on-site signage, a place in the race's marketing and entries for a corporate team.
