Overview The Bay Bridge Half is a half marathon and 5K out of West Oakland whose half runs out across the Bay Bridge toward Treasure Island and back, the only half marathon to cross it, with more than half the route over the water and the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the San Francisco skyline ahead on the way out and Oakland's cranes on the way home. The 5K stays in town. Mascot Sports, the San Francisco event agency behind artist-led runs with Diplo and Travis Barker and the Beach Boys 60th Anniversary 5K, produces it. On site The half starts at 8:15 on 3rd Street between Linden and Chestnut, and the 5K follows at 8:30 on a route through Mandela Parkway and 7th Street. The course limit is three hours, a 14-minute mile. Live music and DJs play along the route, runners can be followed on live tracking, and the finish runs into the Festival at 95 Linden Street. Finishers get a long-sleeve tee, a medal, a race beer glass and free race photos. Audience There is no packet pickup on race morning, so every runner comes through a pop-up party the day before to collect a bib; in 2026 that was at Sports Basement in Berkeley. Track record The first race, on Cinco de Mayo 2019, sold out at its 1,500-runner cap and was the first event to cross the new Bay Bridge; the concept had won the Run Happy Pitch Fest at Running USA's industry conference that year. The start and finish sat at the Old Kan brewery at 3rd and Linden, which brewed a Liquid Medal beer for the runners. The 2026 race was the seventh edition, and runner reviews earned it a Racecheck Bronze Award in 2024. Brand presence The race builds a launch party and on-course activations into its program alongside the DJs, and sells naming rights, the race shirt and the bib. Orangetheory, StretchLab and the Oakland Roots soccer club were on the 2026 partner list.
