About this listing

Overview The Boston 10K for Women is a 6.2-mile women's road race that starts and finishes on Boston Common and runs along the Charles River, and seven women had run all 49 editions by 2025. It was first run in October 1977. The race calls itself the second longest-running all-women's race in the United States and the largest women's sporting event in New England. The course is flat and fast, and the race's own site credits it with multiple American records. Conventures, a Boston event producer, runs it, with NBC Boston as its television partner. On site The 9 a.m. start sends the field through the Back Bay and across and along the Charles, with the Boston and Cambridge skylines on either side, before a finish back on the Common. Hours of athletic and wellness programming run before and after the race, including a choice of warm-ups, and the kids' races are free. Partner tents set up on the Common beside the main programming stage, cheer stations line the course, and every finisher collects a bag of items at the end. Audience The race describes its field as elite runners alongside mothers, daughters, sisters and friends running together. In 2025 runners ranged from 8 to 83 and came from 42 states and 21 countries, with the most from Boston, Cambridge, Somerville and Brookline. The same year 3,225 women ran it for the first time, 940 for the second, and 35 had run it 30 times or more. Runners gave $37,633 to the official charities in 2025. Talent and Influencers Emily Sisson won in 2025 in 31:05, with Annie Rodenfels second and Sara Hall third at 42. Erika Kemp won in 2024 in 31:48. Madelyn Wilson won the wheelchair race in both years, at 15 and 16. A group of race ambassadors, 18 women in 2025, leads training runs and represents the race in Boston's running community, and new ambassadors can come in with incoming sponsors. Track record Registrations rose 40% from 2023 to 2025. The charity program started in 2019 and picks area non-profits that support women, girls or runners; the 2025 list included 261 Fearless, Black Girls RUN!, Girls on the Run and the Vanessa T. Marcotte Foundation. Brand presence The partnership runs most of the year. Registration opens each March on International Women's Day with an NBC Boston story exclusive, summer and fall training runs are led by ambassadors, organizers and sponsor representatives, and runner stories collected through the year can air on NBC Boston. On race day partners get an activation site on the Common, where the race covers tables, chairs and permits and the partner brings the tent, one or two cheer stations on the course, a premium item in every finisher bag and media passes for their own crews. Partners also co-write segments of the pre-race emails to about 35,000 people.
