Overview BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! is a summer-long run of outdoor concerts at the Lena Horne Bandshell in Prospect Park where most shows cost nothing to get into: Sheila E. opened the 2026 season for free, and Common played a night honoring Harry Belafonte in August. A few benefit concerts each season are ticketed. BRIC launched the series in 1979, and it runs with the Prospect Park Alliance and NYC Parks. BRIC is a nonprofit arts and media organization based in Downtown Brooklyn, working across visual and performing arts, media and civic programs. On site The bandshell holds 9,000 per show and is ADA accessible, with curated concessions. Guests are asked to RSVP for free shows, and an RSVP enters them in a draw for two VIP tent passes. A bill usually pairs a headliner with one or two supporting acts, and many nights add a DJ. Each season also takes a theme; 2026 ran as Radical Joy, and one date moved out of the park to Brower Park in Crown Heights. Audience BRIC programs whole nights for particular Brooklyn communities. In 2026 that meant a Juneteenth bill, a Habibi Festival night, a globalFEST night, a Dominican Night presented with the borough president and a Family Day with KidsRead. BRIC described its 2025 crowd as everyone from kids to grandmas, punk rockers to spoken word poets. Talent and Influencers Grace Jones, Janelle Monae, Kamasi Washington, Phoebe Bridgers and the choreographer Ronald K. Brown have all appeared at the bandshell. BRIC called its 2026 bill one of the most women-forward in the festival's history: Sheila E., Patti LaBelle, Lady Wray, Cindy Blackman Santana, Yola and Sasha Velour's NightGowns, with a Lyricist Lounge 35th-anniversary night featuring Jadakiss, Wayne Wonder with Lila Ike, and Liz Phair and Sleater-Kinney closing the season as a September benefit. Brand presence Partners work inside the season rather than on a single date. BRIC sells onsite activations from 10 by 10 feet up to 30 by 30, sampling with point-of-sale, co-branded merchandise, VIP ticket and hospitality packages, artist engagement, community tabling and custom campaigns built with BRIC's own team. A water or beverage partner can take recognition at every show of the season and underwrite the hydration stations, which stand just inside the venue entrances where every guest passes them.
