Bumbershoot is Seattle’s longest-running arts and music tradition, founded in 1971, and remains one of the most culturally significant festivals in the United States. Taking place annually over Labor Day Weekend at Seattle Center, Bumbershoot brings together music, visual arts, comedy, fashion, food, performance, and emerging creative forms into a multi-day celebration of Pacific Northwest culture and innovation. At its core, Bumbershoot celebrates creators and innovators of all kinds, amplifying voices across music, art, and performance while championing a more inclusive and representative arts community. The festival is intentionally designed to be multi-generational and multi-disciplinary, offering something for all ages and interests, from live concerts and immersive art to wrestling, skateboarding, comedy, and culinary experiences, all set against the iconic backdrop of the Space Needle. Beyond the festival weekend, Bumbershoot has evolved into a year-round cultural platform built around three complementary programs: the flagship Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival, Cannonball Arts, a 60,000 sq. ft. always-on arts and music space, and Bumberworks, a tuition-free workforce development program preparing young adults for careers in the creative economy. Together, these initiatives position Bumbershoot not just as a festival, but as a cultural engine driving creativity, access, and community connection at scale.
