About this listing
Overview Calf Fry, known around Stillwater as the Testicle Festival, is a three-night Red Dirt country festival at the Tumbleweed Dance Hall and Concert Arena in Stillwater, Oklahoma, that began in 1991 as a calf fry meal with live music and still serves calf fries beside the headliners. Headliners play the outdoor main stage and regional acts play the indoor stage. The 2026 festival was its 34th. The Tumbleweed itself has booked Hank Williams Jr., Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and Garth Brooks, and Country Weekly named it one of the ten most historic country music sites in the United States. On site In 2026 doors opened at 5 p.m. and the music started at 5:30. The food is the festival's namesake calf fries, grilled onion burgers and hot dogs. Six two-level Sky Boxes, each with a downstairs porch, an upstairs deck, TVs and its own bathroom, hold groups of 20, and VIP and Ultra VIP ticket holders get their own lounges. A line-dancing tent with an instructor running lessons between bands was packed enough in 2025 that the festival expanded it to 20 by 30 feet, and a game lounge runs giant beer pong, Jenga and cornhole. Pre-parties and after-parties run inside the Tumbleweed on the North Stage, and a bus pass shuttles people to and from The Strip across all three nights. Audience It is an Oklahoma State crowd at its core, with Stillwater's tourism bureau calling it the students' last party with friends before the semester ends. The gates are all ages and the festival runs rain or shine. Talent and Influencers Josh Meloy, Flatland Cavalry and Charles Wesley Godwin headlined the three nights in 2026, over Kaitlin Butts, Braxton Keith, Ole 60, Waylon Wyatt and Tyler Nance, with Jackson Wendell, Phil Kane and The Jack Wharff Band on the after-parties. The 2025 bill included Ian Munsick, Treaty Oak Revival, Wyatt Flores, William Clark Green and Ty Myers. Each night also carries a winner of the Road to Calf Fry, the festival's own battle of the bands, which ran for the third time in 2025. Track record The Tumbleweed held its first Calf Fry in 1991, and it soon grew into a two-day event with bull riding. In 1997 more than 8,000 people ate more than 3,000 calf fry meals. Brand presence Sponsors buy named pieces of the weekend. One takes a Sky Box for 20 guests with six branded banners; others brand the VIP or Ultra VIP lounge, down to the lanyards and wristbands, or the Backyard, the artists' lounge, where the festival supplies a masseuse, a chiropractor, a barber and a grillmaster for the bands. The line-dancing tent carries a sponsor's logo on the dance floor and neon on its back wall, the shuttles carry magnets and QR codes, and a photo-wall sponsor gets an 8-by-8 wooden wall to paint, as long as Calf Fry is in the art. The beverage sponsor takes category exclusivity, signature cocktails on the menus and promotions at two later Tumbleweed events, and a door-gift sponsor hands out product to fans as they enter each night.
