Overview The Canfield Fair is a six-day Labor Day county fair on 353 acres in Canfield, Ohio, where the grandstand card runs from harness racing with pari-mutuel betting and a championship truck and tractor pull to mule racing, wiener dog racing and what the fair bills as the World's Largest Demolition Derby. It dates to 1846, and 2026 was the 180th fair. The Mahoning County Agricultural Society runs it and calls it the largest county fair in Ohio; the grounds hold more than 60 buildings, a 6,500-seat grandstand and about 50 mechanical rides. On site The grandstand carries the concerts on Sunday and Monday. In 2026 Big and Rich played with Diamond Rio, and after Bret Michaels canceled his tour, Donnie Iris and the Cruisers and The Clarks closed the fair ahead of fireworks. The Concourse stage near the grandstand hosts local bands, the Agricultural Hall of Fame induction and the Bike Night awards, and the Michael Kusalaba Event Center stage, in the heart of the Junior Fair, runs the opening ceremonies, the Junior Fair king and queen crowning and a kids' cooking contest. Kiddie Land has at least 20 rides; the midway runs The Beast, the Banshee roller coaster and, new in 2026, the Mega Drop, a 120-foot drop tower. More than 400 vendors set up in 2026, and beer and wine were sold outside the grandstand for the first time. Audience The crowd builds toward the weekend. In 2026 opening Wednesday drew 20,554, then Saturday 64,397 and Sunday 73,715, the biggest Sunday since 2018. The fair runs a Senior Day and a Youth Day, and the Junior Fair has its own area and stage on the grounds. The fairgrounds stay in use all year, and the fair says signage at three of its busiest gates is seen by more than 500,000 people a year. Track record Attendance: 245,140 in 2022, 275,080 in 2023, 273,709 in 2024, 284,191 in 2025 and 264,538 in 2026, a year in which the board closed the grounds early on Thursday for severe weather. The 2026 opening ceremony brought a C-130 flyover from Youngstown Air Reserve Station and former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar. Brand presence The presenting sponsor's name goes out whenever the fair is referenced, with a tent on the concourse. Each of the three stages is sold by name, and the name rides in every TV, radio, print and outdoor ad that mentions the stage. Grandstand event sponsors get their name printed on the tickets, banners at the event and ten PA mentions, and the demolition derby sponsor's logo goes on the dash-cam video used afterward. Rides take one sponsor each, with a sign at the ride gate. Gate signage at Gates 5, F and G stays up for twelve months, the grandstand's digital board message can change monthly, and the fair's app, website and podcast each carry ads. Sponsorships go down to a single Wiener Dog Parade of Champions.
