About this listing
Overview The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear is a three-day IndyCar and IMSA weekend on a street circuit through downtown Detroit, the same downtown where the first Detroit Grand Prix ran as a Formula One race in 1982. The NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship headline, with INDY NXT in support. The event is run by the Detroit Grand Prix, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose promoter is a subsidiary of the Downtown Detroit Partnership, and its stated mission is the revitalization of Belle Isle Park and the city's neighborhoods. On site The 2026 circuit ran 1.645 miles with 10 turns, and fans cross it on five pedestrian walkover bridges. Hospitality sits in the Pit Lane Suites, where the Chairman's Suite is a shared club overlooking the track and pit lane with paddock access. The official media center is inside the GM Renaissance Center. At least four jumbotrons show the races around the circuit, and information and ticket booths are spread through the downtown footprint. In 2026 the IMSA race ran Saturday, May 30, on USA and Peacock, and the IndyCar race Sunday, May 31, live on FOX. Talent and Influencers Alex Palou won the 2026 IndyCar race from pole for Chip Ganassi Racing, ahead of Kyle Kirkwood and Graham Rahal, over 100 laps. Track record The race became a CART event in 1989 and moved to Belle Isle in 1992, running there through 2001. After Super Bowl XL came to Detroit in 2006, Roger Penske and the Downtown Detroit Partnership brought it back on Belle Isle in 2007; it paused after 2008 and returned in 2012 with Chevrolet as title sponsor. The 2019 race was the 30th Grand Prix in Detroit. After a 2020 pause and a limited 2021, the 2022 race was the last on the island, and the event went back downtown in 2023. The Grand Prix says it was the first motorsport event anywhere to offset 100% of fan travel, and it reported diverting 57% of its waste from landfill. Brand presence Chevrolet holds the title and Lear presents. Around them the inventory is built from the circuit itself: 24-foot track barrier and fence signs, signage along the walls and stairwells of the five walkover bridges, a logo bug on the jumbotrons and internal track feeds every three to five minutes of racing, and naming rights on the information booths, ticket booths, wayfinding cubes and the media center. In 2025 a media luncheon brought C-level executives and working press together for a panel and remarks from the Grand Prix chairman. Brands can also take branded activation space, and larger partners get an IndyCar show car appearance and invitations to partner networking events.
