Overview ChristmasVille is a four-day holiday festival that turns Old Town Rock Hill, South Carolina, into a storybook village each December. It is built around the whimsical art of Vernon Grant, Rock Hill's adopted son and the illustrator who created Kellogg's Snap, Crackle and Pop. A volunteer-led 501(c)(3) runs the festival, and sponsor support keeps most of its roughly 70 events free, from carnival rides and inflatables to movies and live entertainment. On site Santa arrives by the Opening Ceremony at Fountain Park, and the days that follow bring horse-drawn carriage rides, historic tours, strolling carolers, theater, dance, music and a real outdoor ice rink. Santa's Main Street Workshop lines the sidewalks with craft and cookie stations for kids, and a Vendor Village fills downtown with holiday shopping. The gingerbread house, LEGO and ornament contests, Taste of ChristmasVille and ChristmasVille After Dark give adults their own nights out. Audience Organizers counted about 80,000 people at the most recent festival, with visitors from 15 states and four countries and an estimated 35 percent coming from outside the local region. Families with young children and grandparents make up the core crowd, with couples and friends coming for the evening events. Marketing reaches Charlotte, the Carolinas and Georgia. Talent and Influencers Santa Claus is the headliner, arriving at the Opening Ceremony and appearing across the weekend alongside gnomes and characters drawn from Vernon Grant's illustrations. Local talent fills the stages, including the Rock Hill RockHettes dance line, Showtime Theatre Company's youth troupe and Victorian-costumed carolers. WRHI serves as the Voice of ChristmasVille, and Madds Media is the official marketing partner. Track record ChristmasVille began as a City of Rock Hill project to make downtown a holiday destination and now runs as an independent nonprofit. Organizers estimate it adds $2.75 million to the local economy, and shop owners report weeks of sales in one weekend. It has won Southeast Best Festival and Best Event Series from the Southeast Festivals & Events Association, plus York County's Best Annual Festival from The Post and Courier. Brand presence Piedmont Medical Center is the presenting sponsor, and the City of Rock Hill, Comporium, the Arts Council of York County and Culture & Heritage Museums support at the Tradition level. More than 130 sponsors take part, among them Rock Hill Coca-Cola, Jim Shore, Rock Hill Ford, the Carolina Panthers and Visit York County. Levels run from Tinsel to Festive, with street pole banners, volunteer shirt logos, logo licensing, Santa visits and VIP party, breakfast and sponsor lounge access.
