About this listing
Overview CinemaQ is Denver Film's three-day LGBTQ+ film festival at the Sie FilmCenter on East Colfax, and its 2026 edition opened Pride Month with a Gregg Araki double bill - a new 4K restoration of Mysterious Skin beside his latest, I Want Your Sex - with the novelist behind Mysterious Skin, Scott Heim, in the room to take questions. Denver Film calls it Denver's only LGBTQ+ film festival, and founder Keith Garcia curated the 2026 program. The host, Denver Film, is the nonprofit that runs the Sie FilmCenter and the Denver Film Festival each fall. On site Everything happens in one building. Opening night starts with a party in the Sie lobby - in 2026 it was called Sinners and Saints - and moves into the opening film; a late-night slot follows. Saturday opened in 2026 with SaturGAY Morning Cartoons and Cereal, a bring-your-own-bowl cartoon program in the lobby. Sunday carries a community panel and the CinemaQ Marketplace of LGBTQ+-owned Denver small businesses, and the closing-night film ends the weekend. Audience The 2026 opening-night film was listed as sold out. Filmmakers and the people on screen stay to take questions after their films, and the 2026 Sunday panel, Converting the Masses, took on conversion therapy in Colorado after the opening film, Leviticus, dealt with it. The marketplace puts local LGBTQ+-owned businesses on the same floor as the festival crowd. Talent and Influencers In 2026 the festival opened on the U.S. premiere of Adrian Chiarella's Leviticus, gave D'Arcy Drollinger's Lady Champagne its North American premiere with Drollinger in person, and closed on John Early's Maddie's Secret. The Dads, Luchina Fisher's documentary about fathers of trans children, screened with its subject Stephen Chukumba; it had won CinemaQ's audience award at an earlier edition. Colman Domingo has attended the festival. The Black Lives Queerly track was created with Black Pride Colorado. Track record In 2024 the festival counted 1,800-plus attendees, more than 10 films, 500,000-plus marketing impressions and 5.8 million-plus media impressions, with coverage in The Denver Gazette, OUT FRONT Magazine and CBS News Colorado. Brand presence Sponsors buy in at three named levels - Marquee, Cameo and Film - and each is tied to films: a sponsor attaches its name to specific screenings, with a 15-second spot before them and tickets for its own guests. Around that sit the lobby slideshow at the Sie, logos on the e-blasts, website, ticketing page and on-screen sponsor spotlight, and the option to hand out swag or run a table on site. In 2026 Denver Film listed the William Labahn Foundation as presenting sponsor, with Next50 Foundation, Rocky Mountain PBS and SCFD among the supporters.
