Overview Cleveland Race Week is ten days of sailboat racing on Lake Erie out of Edgewater Yacht Club, and by its organizers' count it ranks among the largest regattas in the country by number of sailing classes: more than a dozen One Design classes, nine PHRF handicap divisions and three JAM divisions, spread over four race courses. Boats come from across the United States and Canada. Edgewater Yacht Club was founded in 1914, sits on the Cleveland lakefront at 6700 Cleveland Memorial Shoreway, and is a certified Silver-level Clean Regatta host with Sailors for the Sea. On site The ten days run as a set of regattas. The One Design fleets race the opening weekend, a double-handed and women's regatta and the Edgewater junior regatta fill midweek, and the offshore regatta takes the second weekend. Thursday and Friday night races run in between. Ashore there is a regatta tent, daily awards, a weather debrief, the Blender Party, food and beer, a ride-hail program to get sailors home, and the closing awards ceremony. More than 200 volunteers, members and non-members, run the water and the shore. Audience Race Week describes its fleet as amateurs, sailing professionals and world champions, from 10-to-18-year-old junior sailors to competitors in their 70s, with parents, families and coaches alongside. The organizers describe many of them as business owners, board members and community leaders. Track record Race Week started in 1980, and 2026 was its 45th year. The organizers say it kept growing while participation fell at other regional and national regattas. Edgewater has hosted the J/22 World Championship, the Star Western Hemisphere Championship, the US Sailing Champion of Champions, the US Sailing Women's Keelboat Championship and North Americans for the Dragon, Ensign, J/24, J/70, J/105 and Thistle classes, among others. Brand presence Sponsors buy in at Gold, Silver, Bronze and Sailor levels, which put a logo on the daily-awards regatta trophies, the event webpages, the club TV displays and the regatta bucket, banners on site, swag in the skipper's bag and VIP wristbands. Individual pieces of the week are sold on their own: the regatta tent, the start or finish line, the Thursday and Friday night races, the Blender Party, the weather debrief, the volunteer shirts, the skipper's bags and the beer.
