Overview Country Thunder Wisconsin is a four-day country music festival and campout at Shadow Hill Ranch in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, a stretch of farm country just north of the Illinois line, about an hour from both Chicago and Milwaukee. It is the Midwest stop of Country Thunder Music Festivals, the largest country festival brand in North America. The Academy of Country Music has named it Festival of the Year. Fans pull in on Thursday, set up camp, and stay until the last encore on Sunday night. On site Headliners close each night on the main stage, fronted by reserved seats, the Gold Circle and Platinum Circle pits and the Platinum Experience lounge with its own bar. The Lake Stage runs more than 20 emerging acts over the weekend, and Nashville hit writers play the Songwriters Showcase. Buckin' Thunder pro bull riding, produced with Big Hat Rodeo, takes over three afternoons. The Electric Thunder tent holds line-dance lessons and a dance contest. About 4,000 campsites ring the grounds, from tent rows to powered Crown sites and concierge glamping. Artist meet-and-greets are never sold; fans win them at partner booths. Audience The crowd is 60% women and 40% men. 60% are Gen Z or Millennials and 27% are Gen X. Illinois sends the most fans, ahead of Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan and Florida, which makes this a Chicago-area drive market as much as a Wisconsin one. Many fans renew the same campsite and reserved seats every year, and families come too, since kids 10 and under get into general admission free. Talent and Influencers Keith Urban, Riley Green, Gavin Adcock and The Red Clay Strays headlined the most recent festival, with Shaboozey, Nate Smith, Gretchen Wilson, Ian Munsick, Dasha, Mark Chesnutt, Lonestar and Corey Kent on the bill. The year before brought Jelly Roll, Hardy, Dierks Bentley, Cole Swindell, Ashley McBryde and Zach Top. Past performers at Twin Lakes include Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw and Chris Stapleton. The next lineup has not been announced. Track record The festival has run in Twin Lakes for three decades. More than a million fans have come through its gates, and it recently crowned its One Millionth Fan with front-row reserved seats and camping for life. Across all of its festivals the Country Thunder brand draws more than 490,000 fans, logs over 1.3 million web visits a year and mails to an email list of more than 221,000. Brand presence Miller Lite, Coors Light, Crown Royal, Tito's, White Claw and Mike's Hard Lemonade pour here, and CAT Workwear, Thorogood and Legendary Whitetails share the partner wall.
