Overview The Delaware Running Festival is Wilmington's spring road-race weekend - a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K and a Kids Fun Run for ages 8 to 12 - on a course that starts and finishes at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park, and the marathon is a USATF-certified Boston qualifier where 10% to 12% of runners have qualified for Boston. It bills itself as the First State's original marathon. Corrigan Sports Enterprises produces it, and the 2025 edition was its 20th. On site From the Riverfront the course runs through Brandywine Park, the city's historic neighborhoods and along the Jack Markell Trail before coming back to the park. Finishers are funneled straight into a post-race celebration village, where sponsors set up, live music plays and every runner gets two beers. Audience The field is mostly local: 65% of runners live in Delaware, 82% of those in New Castle County, and most of the rest come from Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey. Track record Participation: 2,709 in 2023, 3,011 in 2024, 3,323 in 2025. In 2026, 657 runners started the marathon and 648 finished. That year's men's race ended in a photo finish: Joshua Jackson of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, won in 2:43:12 by two seconds over a leader who slowed to celebrate, and the video drew hundreds of thousands of views. Brand presence The title partner's logo goes inside the event logo on every medal, runner shirt and bib, on every event web page and every email to runners, and its name leads the start and finish arches and a dozen banners along the final stretch. The title partner holds the finish-line tape, presents the awards on stage, gets 50 PA reads at the finish, teardrop flags in the village and an activation space of up to 20 by 20 feet there, plus 50 race entries and 50 VIP passes to a catered tent. Five percent of the fee goes to a charity the partner picks, handed over as an oversized check after the race.
