About this listing

Overview The Dow Tennis Classic is a WTA 125 women's tournament played indoors on hard courts in Midland, Michigan, and its champions list runs from Anna Kournikova in 1996 and Li Na in 2002 to Caty McNally beating Jessica Pegula in the 2019 final. Sixty players enter for an eight-day week. It started in 1994 as the Dow Corning Tennis Classic, ran as a $100,000 ITF event from 2010 to 2020 and moved up to WTA 125 in 2021. It is played at the Greater Midland Tennis Center, which the nonprofit Greater Midland runs alongside a community center and a curling center; the tennis center has 32 indoor and outdoor courts. On site The week runs from qualifying through the finals, with the doubles final on Saturday night and the singles final at noon on Sunday. The tournament sells group tickets and stay-and-play packages, and the week includes player meet-and-greets and courtside hospitality. Audience Midland plays tennis: the USTA named it the Best Tennis Town in America in 2009, and the draw usually carries local names. The 2026 field included a Northwood University player who grew up in Midland and a professional from Midland who started as a ball kid at the tournament. Local TV described it that year as the only professional women's-only tennis event in Michigan. Talent and Influencers Coco Gauff reached the 2019 doubles final here with Ann Li, and Pegula played the 2018 doubles final. Madison Brengle won the singles in 2018 and 2021, McNally again in 2022, Anna Kalinskaya in 2023 and Rebecca Marino in 2024. In 2026 the draw came from eight countries with six players inside the WTA top 150, and Alina Charaeva won it. Track record The 2024 edition was voted the third-best WTA 125 tournament in the world and the best in the Americas. After four years in a November slot the tournament skipped 2025 and returned to February in 2026, the month it had held for most of its history. Brand presence The tournament carried Dow Corning's name from 1994 and Dow's from 2017. Partner packages are built custom and draw on signage, courtside hospitality and the tournament's community and youth programs.
