Overview The Fiesta de Mayo Half Marathon is a Cinco de Mayo-themed race morning in Las Colinas, Irving, with a half marathon, 10K and 5K run/walk that start and end at the Plaza at Toyota Music Factory, where a post-race party pours free beer and serves tacos. It is one of six events in the Irving Marathon Running Series, which has staged races in Las Colinas since 2012, and every series event raises scholarship money for Irving ISD students through the Irving Schools Foundation. On site The half and 10K start at 7 a.m. and the 5K at 7:20. The half marathon loops Lake Carolyn with live entertainment along the course, the 10K circles the lake, and the 5K runs up and down Las Colinas Boulevard. More than 90 off-duty police officers handle the street closures. Every runner gets a custom bib, chip timing, a gender-specific performance shirt and free professional race photos, and finishers get a custom medal. The party at Toyota Music Factory runs after the race with tacos, beer and live entertainment. Audience The field runs from racers chasing the half marathon's cash prizes for the top three men and women to walkers on the 5K. Age-group medals go 16 categories deep across all three distances. Teams enter together for the team challenge, which hands out trophies for Fastest Team, Most Participation and Best Dressed. The scholarships go to Irving ISD students who volunteer at series events. Brand presence Sponsorship is sold race element by race element, beneath a title sponsor and a community level: the race bib, course signage, the team challenge, the PR bell, the top-finisher awards, the results page, the race video, the beer and the post-race food. Sponsors and vendors apply through the series, and the post-race party at Toyota Music Factory is where the footprints sit.
