Overview Film on the Rocks is Denver Film's summer movie series at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, five nights a season of a live pre-show followed by a film on the big screen, and in 2026 two of the five nights, The Princess Bride and Jurassic Park, sold out. The series has run for more than 20 years. Red Rocks is a 9,525-seat open-air amphitheater framed by two sandstone monoliths, Ship Rock and Creation Rock, at 6,450 feet, about ten miles southwest of Denver and owned by the city. Denver Film is a nonprofit founded in 1978; it also runs the Denver Film Festival every November and the three-screen Sie FilmCenter on East Colfax. On site Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the pre-show starts at 7 and the film at 8:30. In 2026 School of Rock played before The Princess Bride, The Reminders before Sinners, DeVotchKa with opener Wheelchair Sports Camp before Little Miss Sunshine, and May Be Fern before Bridesmaids; paleontologist and National Geographic Explorer Tyler Lyson opened Jurassic Park. Comedian and host Janae Burris emceed every night. Every screening runs open captions. Audience Red Rocks draws from well beyond Denver. Per Denver Film's sponsor packet, 45% of the series crowd comes from Denver County, 44% from elsewhere in the United States and 10% from outside the country. Guests are in their seats from the 6:30 doors through a feature that starts at 8:30. Track record The 2025 season played 2001: A Space Odyssey, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Legally Blonde and Shrek 2. 2026 played The Princess Bride, Sinners, Little Miss Sunshine, Bridesmaids and Jurassic Park. Brand presence Sponsors buy in by the show. A sponsor takes a reserved 10-by-10 activation space on site, can hand out swag, runs a 15-second video spot on the main screen and sits in the slideshow on the side screens, with tickets, VIP seating and the chance of a backstage tour. Recognition runs on the website, in e-blasts, on social, in press releases and on the ticketing pages.
