About this listing
Overview The Golden State 5K is a 3.1-mile run and walk that starts outside Chase Center, the Warriors' arena on the San Francisco waterfront, and ends in a wellness festival on the plaza next door, and the 2026 race sold out. Thrive City produces it with Mascot Sports, Kaiser Permanente presents it, and part of every registration goes to the Golden State Community Foundation, which funds education and youth development across the Bay Area on behalf of the Warriors and the Valkyries. Thrive City is the 11-acre plaza around Chase Center, built with Kaiser Permanente around health and wellness programming. On site The morning opens with group yoga before the start. The course runs along the Bay on a route the race calls flat, fast and social, and comes back to Thrive City, where the Kaiser Permanente Wellness and Recovery Zone opens as the first runners finish: restorative yoga, a DJ, free fitness classes, health-focused vendors handing out product, snacks and finisher drinks. The 2026 schedule included a kids' race after the main event. VIP runners get their own check-in, reserved parking at Thrive City, a lounge on the Splash Terrace with breakfast, a first-corral start and a post-race meet and greet with Golden State special guests. Every finisher gets a Bay Area-themed shirt and a custom medal. Audience The race pitches itself to Warriors fans and wellness regulars, and walkers are welcome on the course; in 2026 people could also take part online. Registration comes with access to Warriors tickets - in 2025, the Rockets game at Chase Center on race day - and the team stages a Runner's Night game with a giveaway around the race. Track record Thrive City and Mascot Sports ran the first Golden State 5K on April 6, 2025; the Port of San Francisco's event listing that year expected about 1,500 runners and walkers. The second edition, on March 29, 2026, drew more than 4,000 runners and walkers in person and online. Brand presence Kaiser Permanente presents the race and puts its name on the Wellness and Recovery Zone. Fitness studios and health brands take space in the post-race festival, and Altamont Beer Works was a partner vendor there in 2026. Mascot Sports, which produces the race with Thrive City, also builds live events and brand experiences for clients including Live Nation, Red Bull and the San Francisco Giants.
