Overview The Grand Teton Half Marathon and 5K is a two-race weekend in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with the Teton Range in view for almost every step. Vacation Races, the national-park race series owned by Motiv Sports, puts it on each June: the 5K on Friday evening and the half marathon on Saturday morning. It opens a run of back-to-back June weekends with the Yellowstone Half Marathon a week later, and many runners sign up for both. On site Expo and bib pickup run Friday afternoon at the Stilson Lot in Wilson, near the foot of Teton Pass. The 5K loops out and back from there that evening on flat paved pathway. Before dawn on Saturday, shuttles carry half marathon runners from Teton Village and downtown Jackson to the Stilson start. The course is paved and point to point. It follows the Wilson pathway, crosses the Snake River on a footbridge and finishes on the valley floor. Cups are banned. The race is zero-waste, so runners carry their own bottle through the five aid stations. Spectators ride shuttles to the finish, where the awards ceremony is held later in the morning. Audience Few runners are local. Most build a whole Wyoming trip around race weekend. Women make up about 70% of half marathon finishers, and across the Vacation Races series the main age group is 30 to 40. Nine in ten runners visit a national park while they are in town. Many stay on for the Doubles and Grand Quad, which pair these races with Yellowstone the next weekend. Talent and Influencers There is no paid elite field. The men's course record is 1:10:43 and the women's is 1:27:00, and a record holder races free every year the mark stands. Overall and masters awards go to male, female and non-binary runners, and runners chasing an overall award start in the first wave. Charity runners race on Wander Project bibs and can have their entry fee waived if they hit their fundraising goal, with the money going to the communities and wild places around the parks. Track record The race is well established. Its course records go back through many editions in Jackson Hole. A recent weekend had more than 2,200 finishers across the half marathon and the 5K, and the Vacation Races series as a whole draws over 30,000 runners a year to events in and around the national parks.
