About this listing
Overview The Hattiesburg Half Marathon, 10K and 5K starts downtown in front of the Historic Saenger Theater and hands miles of the course to local nonprofits, which decorate them, bring entertainment and cheer runners through. Area charities win their places by application, then recruit charity runners who raise money for them through the race's peer-to-peer fundraising. The race is a signature fundraiser for the Pinebelt Foundation and the United Way of Southeast Mississippi, and a community-led group plans it with the City of Hattiesburg and Visit Hattiesburg. On site Race morning is a Saturday in April. The half marathon goes off at 7, the 10K five minutes later and the 5K at 7:10. The half marathon course takes in the downtown historic district, the Katie-John-Dabbs, North Main Street, The Oaks, Parkhaven and Longleaf Heights neighborhoods, the Longleaf Trace and the University of Southern Mississippi, with seven water stations and a four-hour limit. The after party opens at 7:45 and awards start at 9:15. Packet pickup and the expo run the day before; in 2025 they were held at the Historic Train Depot downtown, and Finish Fest ran from 8 until noon. Audience The race's 2025 sponsor packet counts runners from 24 states and two countries, but 78% lived in Mississippi and 46% in Forrest or Lamar County, the two counties around Hattiesburg. Part of the field runs as charity runners, raising money for a named nonprofit. The 5K has an age group for children seven and under and a walk division. Track record The 2025 race was the 13th. It drew 1,504 participants in 2024, and the race had raised more than $170,000 for local nonprofits through the 2024 event. Brand presence The title sponsor's name goes into the race logo and onto all prominent signage, and every sponsor's logo goes on the race shirt. Single pieces are sold on their own: the after party, the expo and packet pickup, and the charity runner program, whose sponsor goes on the charity runners' shirts. Companies can also take a course mile, theme and decorate it, and staff it with employees cheering; Mile 2 is passed by every runner in all three races, Mile 4 by the 10K and half marathon, and the later miles by the half alone.
