About this listing
Overview The Jacksonville Grand Prix is a season-long points competition laid over the city's road races, from the July 4 Celebration Run to Run for the Pies in June, and it is scored on USA Track and Field age-graded factors, so runners of every age compete for the same overall standings. The season splits into a summer-fall half and a winter-spring half of eight to ten races each, and only a runner's best eight scores in each half count. There is no sign-up: 1st Place Sports, the Jacksonville running store that runs the series, scores every Grand Prix race and tracks the points itself. On site The distances run from 5Ks to the Jacksonville Marathon, and most races belong to a neighborhood. On the 2026-27 calendar the Oktoberfest Beer and Brats 5K starts in San Marco Square, the EverGreen Pumpkin Run and the St. Paddy's Run go through Evergreen Cemetery, the Thanksgiving Distance Classic leaves from Pickwick Plaza in Mandarin, the marathon starts at The Bolles School, a New Year's Eve 5K runs from Veterans Memorial Arena and a winter run goes out at Jacksonville Beach. In the 2024 series Tour de Pain packed three races into 24 hours. The store's race calendar carries only events with measured courses, police protection, medical support and accurate timing. Audience The field mixes regulars and beginners: in 1st Place Sports' 2024 proposal, 40 percent of runners were running a race for the first time. The regulars chase points all year, since age-group awards need at least 300 points in a half and anyone who finishes ten races earns a custom Grand Prix glass mug. Age groups start at 10 and under. Between races the store runs free weeknight group runs from its shops and from Wicked Barley Brewing Company. Brand presence Most Grand Prix races carry a title partner in the race name; on the 2026-27 calendar that meant Seacoast Bank on the July 4 run, Chuze Fitness on the Mandarin Run, Community First on the Thanksgiving Distance Classic, Ameris Bank on the marathon, Bank of America on the New Year's Eve 5K, IQ Fiber on the Winter Beach Run and Chick-fil-A on its Chicken Biscuit Run. A series partner's logo rides on the back of every race shirt through the year, on the store's website and each race page, on a 15-foot wind flag and the awards backdrop at every event, with a finish-line booth where the course allows it.
