About this listing
Overview The Little League Baseball World Series brings 20 teams of 10- to 12-year-olds, ten from United States regions and ten from international ones, to South Williamsport, Pennsylvania every August, and admission to every game is free. Games run on two fields at the Little League International Complex, Howard J. Lamade Stadium and Volunteer Stadium, and the United States and international brackets each produce a champion who meet in one world title game. Little League began in Williamsport in 1939 and stages seven World Series a year across its divisions, and this one, first played in 1947, is the oldest. On site Lamade has a grass berm beyond the outfield fence that lets the stadium hold up to 45,000 spectators, and seats for the championship games are handed out by random drawing. Outside the stadium sits a Fan Zone, with a Family Fun Zone alongside it, and ESPN puts up a life-size tournament bracket just outside Lamade. Fans build a Fan Pass in the free LLWS app before they arrive and scan it at sponsor booths for a daily prize pack. Most booths hold scheduled pin drops, releasing collectible pins of their own. Talent and Influencers Two Major League clubs come to town for the MLB Little League Classic. Their players watch the day's World Series games at the complex, then play a regular-season game at Historic Bowman Field with every World Series team and their families in the stands. The Cardinals and Pirates played the first one in 2017, and it ran every year after that except 2020; the Braves and Brewers played in 2026, on ESPN. Track record The first tournament, in 1947, brought together 12 of the 17 Little League programs then known, and more than 2,500 people watched the Maynard Midget League of Williamsport win the final 16-7. International regions joined in 1958, ABC first televised the series in 1963, and the field grew from 16 teams to 20 in 2022. ESPN's 2026 coverage averaged 1.1 million viewers across ABC, ESPN and ESPN2, its largest audience since 2015, and 2.9 million watched Curacao beat Henderson, Nevada 11-2 for the title on ABC. Brand presence T-Mobile presented the 2026 series, and New York Life presented the MLB Little League Classic. Fan Zone booths are built as games rather than displays: in 2026 NatureSweet ran a tomato toss, New Era Cap a 30-second virtual hitting contest called Rocket Rally, OFF! a throwing game called Slug the Bug and Uncrustables the Uncrusta-Toss, OxiClean spun a giant prize wheel beside an Arm and Hammer walk-in washing machine, and Easton put its new bats up for demo in the Family Fun Zone. The first three Little League teams in 1939 were Lycoming Dairy, Lundy Lumber and Jumbo Pretzel, named for the businesses whose $30 bought their uniforms.
