About this listing
Overview The Longines Global Champions Tour of Miami Beach is the Florida stop of the five-star show jumping circuit founded by Dutch Olympian Jan Tops. For three days each spring an arena goes up on the sand at Collins Park, between 21st and 22nd Street, with the Atlantic on one side and the Boardwalk on the other. Professionals jump at CSI5* and amateurs at CSI2*. The weekend builds to the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Miami Beach and includes a round of the GCL team championship. On site Friday belongs to the GCL, where teams of top riders jump two rounds for championship points. Saturday runs CSI2* and CSI5* classes, and Sunday closes with the Grand Prix. Grandstand seats are ticketed. Watching from the beach side of the arena is free, and so is the GC Village, where yachting, art, fashion and luxury car brands share space with local food and a cocktail bar that has Miami DJs playing into the evening. On the Boardwalk side, the VIP Hospitality Lounge sets ringside tables under each host company's name, with an ocean view, local dishes and champagne. Audience The organizers pitch the event to equestrian fans, high-net-worth families and business decision makers. VIP guests fly in from across the United States and abroad. Residents and tourists on the Boardwalk stop on the sand to watch, many seeing show jumping for the first time. Fans elsewhere follow every class live and on demand on GCTV, the Tour's streaming service. Talent and Influencers The field comes from the top of the Longines Rankings. Katrin Eckermann has won the Grand Prix here more times than anyone. Past winners also include Scott Brash, Edwina Tops-Alexander, Jérôme Guéry, Pieter Devos and Michael Duffy, while Jack Whitaker and Piergiorgio Bucci have finished on the podium behind her. In the GCL, Laura Kraut and Lorenzo de Luca have won for Rome Gladiators, and double Olympic individual bronze medalist Maikel van der Vleuten anchored Madrid in Motion to victory. Track record Miami Beach has been on the Tour calendar since the middle of the last decade and is one of its few stops in the Americas. Grandstand seats sold out ahead of the latest edition, which came back after a year off, and organizers reported sold-out crowds all weekend. The Grand Prix carries a six-figure euro prize for the winner and points toward the season-ending Super Grand Prix. Brand presence Longines is the long-standing title partner and official timekeeper. Its clocks sit on the fences. Classes are sold to presenting partners, recently Champagne Barons de Rothschild, World Wide Technology, Techemet, BARNES, V2 Jets and Elder Automotive Group, plus Wellington horse businesses. A presenting partner gets its own CSI5* class and prize-giving, branded fences, arena and warm-up panels, the entrance arches and the podium and press backdrops. A 30-second big-screen spot, space in the village and VIP tables come with it.
