About this listing

Overview Love Run Philadelphia is a spring road race with two distances, a half marathon and a 7K, run together on one Sunday morning from Eakins Oval at the foot of the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps. Motiv Sports produces it. The 7K is capped at 2,500 runners. There is no race-morning packet pickup, so every runner collects a bib at the two-day Health and Fitness Expo beforehand. The race has sold out every year since its first running. On site The half marathon starts on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway near 22nd Street, loops through Center City and around City Hall, then follows the Schuylkill River through Fairmount Park and finishes at Eakins Oval below the Rocky Steps. The 7K lines up in the same corrals and covers the Center City stretch. At the finish festival on the Oval, runners 21 and over get a free beer in the beer garden, Philly food trucks serve soft pretzels and post-race food, and a prize patrol throws giveaways from the main stage. The expo at the Pennsylvania Convention Center is free and open to the public. Audience The field mixes club runners chasing a PR with walkers and first-timers. Hundreds of teams from running clubs, triathlon clubs, charity groups and companies race together, and teams of 20 or more get their own tent or private portable toilet in the team area on the west side of Eakins Oval. Spectators line the course and join runners at the finish festival. Talent and Influencers Race weekend has put well-known runners in front of the field. At a recent edition Olympic medalist Molly Huddle and Peloton coach Kirsten Ferguson spoke at a community run and panel, and professional runner Abbe Goldstein won the 7K outright. A race ambassador program recruits local runners who post about their training on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok in the months before the race. Track record The field has grown from about 11,000 runners to more than 14,500 at the latest edition, when the 7K filled months ahead of race day. Since the early editions the race has run Philly Runs Free with Legacy of Hope, a free-entry fundraising program for cancer research and emergency support for patients' families in the region. Brand presence Saucony holds the title. It designed the race shirt, ran a social club on Walnut Street for the three days before the race, staffed cheer zones at City Hall and on the course, and ran a shoe offer with a local running store. The Delaware Valley BMW Dealers are the official automotive partner: test drives outside the expo, the lead car on race morning and vehicle displays at the finish festival. Penn Medicine is the medical partner. Exhibitors take booths at the expo, where every runner collects a bib.
