Overview Major League Cricket is the United States' professional Twenty20 league, and three of its six franchises were set up by the owners of Indian Premier League sides: the Los Angeles Knight Riders by the Kolkata Knight Riders group, MI New York by the Mumbai Indians and the Texas Super Kings by Chennai Super Kings. The other three are the San Francisco Unicorns, Seattle Orcas and Washington Freedom. The ICC sanctioned the league in April 2023 and its first season ran that July at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas and Church Street Park in North Carolina. Its investors have included Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Ross Perot Jr., Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen and Shah Rukh Khan. Minor League Cricket, launched in 2021 with 26 teams, feeds it players. On site The 2026 season ran June 18 to July 18: 30 double round-robin matches and four playoffs across three grounds, with 15 matches at Grand Prairie Stadium, 12 at Oakland Coliseum, which hosted the playoffs and final for the first time, and seven at the new Knight Riders Cricket Field at Fairplex in Pomona. The 2025 season was shot with a 30-camera production. The league's 2026 partnership deck offered private hosted matchday hospitality at Oakland, Southern California and Grand Prairie, and Corporate Cricket Days, where a company's own teams play on official MLC pitches in matches captained by current players or cricket legends, ending with a drinks reception and dinner. Audience The league's own materials put its fan base heaviest in California and Texas and close to the startup, venture and technology world, and they describe fans as digital-first, following matches on streaming and social. Minor League Cricket, which the league calls family-oriented and community-based, plays about 150 matches across more than 20 cities, all streamed on YouTube. Talent and Influencers In 2026 Faf du Plessis became the first batter to pass 1,000 MLC runs and Akeal Hosein bowled the league's first hat-trick, and Sunil Narine was player of the match in the final. In 2025 the league fielded more than 50 international players and more than 50 domestic ones; Minor League Cricket has produced United States players including Saurabh Netravalkar, Ali Khan, Monank Patel and Harmeet Singh. Track record MI New York won the first title in 2023 over the Seattle Orcas. Washington Freedom beat the San Francisco Unicorns in 2024, MI New York won again in 2025 over Washington, and in 2026 the Los Angeles Knight Riders beat Washington by one run in front of 11,000 at the Oakland Coliseum, 164 to 163 for 9, for their first championship. The 2025 season went out to more than 90 countries through ten broadcast partners. Brand presence The league sells national partnerships over multiple seasons with a regional layer underneath: executive hospitality at marquee matches, hosted receptions and owner-adjacent events, Founder, CFO and operator dinners in the Bay Area, Southern California, Texas and Seattle, and sessions with the league's Client Advisory Group. In Minor League Cricket a partner can take always-on assets such as umpire and official equipment and overlays on the YouTube broadcasts, and an activation at the Minor League final.
