About this listing
Overview The Robot Goalie is a full-size soccer goal guarded by a robot keeper, built by former NASA engineer Mark Rober and his CrunchLabs engineering team. Optical cameras read the ball off the kicker's foot within 6 milliseconds, and the keeper slides across the goal faster than any human goalkeeper can dive. Rober built it to face Cristiano Ronaldo, and it now travels to fan events as a live penalty-kick challenge. On site Fans step up to the spot and get one shot each against the robot, with the software tuned so kids and adults of any skill level can really compete. The goal runs on custom tracks driven by dual motors. It fits an outdoor stadium or pitch, a public plaza or fan zone, a convention center or an arena concourse, anywhere with clearance for a penalty box. The Rober engineering team delivers the robot, installs it over two days, runs it through the event and strikes it afterward. A live feed can carry every attempt to screens around the venue. Audience Soccer fans, families and the science-minded following that comes with Mark Rober. His channel is one of the largest science and engineering channels on YouTube, and viewers of his recent brand campaigns skew 18 to 44. The shoot-out itself draws kids, parents and serious players into the same line. Talent and Influencers Rober spent nearly a decade at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and time at Apple before building his YouTube channel and founding CrunchLabs, which makes engineering build kits for kids. At the top tier Mark Rober appears on site, hosts a VIP and fan session, posts Stories from the event and publishes a dedicated YouTube Short. Local D1, club and high school players can be recruited to take on the robot before the event. Track record The robot's debut video, where Cristiano Ronaldo tested it in front of Portugal national team players, ran as a T-Mobile campaign and passed 100 million views. OptiTrack's high-speed camera system powers the ball tracking. Rober's sponsored videos regularly perform at or above his organic benchmarks, and recent campaigns for LEGO, Eight Sleep and Tide each drew tens of millions of views. Brand presence A partner brands the field artwork around the goal and the robot's own jersey, so the logo sits in every fan photo and clip. Content builds in steps: athlete videos in the weeks before, optional Stories from Mark in the days before, a branded live feed and fan content on the day, and a YouTube Short afterward. The Rober team leads press outreach with the brand alongside it, and a fan challenge or giveaway can be built in. Venue and operating costs of the fan event are expected to sit with the host.
