About this listing
Overview Melrose Trading Post is a weekly open-air market held every Sunday from 10AM to 5PM on the campus of Fairfax High School, at Melrose and Fairfax in Los Angeles. About 260 local makers, vintage dealers, artists and collectors set up each week. It is a program of Greenway Arts Alliance, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and every admission dollar funds free arts education for Fairfax High students and productions at Greenway Court Theatre. On site Vendors sell antique and handmade furniture, original art and photography, vintage and locally designed clothing and jewelry, imported goods and handmade soaps, candles and body care. Food trucks park throughout the market and pop-up stands sell drinks and snacks inside it. The Greenway Main Stage runs live music, poetry, sound baths and dance all day, and a lawn area hosts wellness sessions. Brands book promotional pop-ups from 10x10 to 30x20 feet, and the market takes no more than two corporate pop-ups on any Sunday. Audience Between 3,000 and 6,000 people come through the gates every Sunday. Many are regulars who make the market part of their Sunday. Admission is a few dollars at the gate. The market's Instagram has more than 78,000 followers, and its patron newsletter reaches more than 12,000 subscribers. Talent and Influencers The stage features local musicians, poets and performers every week, from emerging LA artists to Fairfax High students making their debut. Regular programming includes Wellness Through Words with Eclectuals, Intermission sound baths and typewriter poetry from LA Poet Society, and music pop-ups such as album release shows have been staged at the market. Track record Whitney Weston and Pierson Blaetz founded Greenway Arts Alliance and the market in 1997. It has raised more than $10 million for Fairfax High School and fully funds the Greenway Institute for the Arts. Students earn paid work experience running the market. The LA Times and Travel & Leisure have both written it up. Brand presence Café Bustelo, Apple Pay, Tower 28 Beauty, MSFTSrep, Floyd's 99 Barbershop and Peacock have run pop-ups at the market, alongside film promotions and artist launches. Brands can book promotional space by the Sunday, add collaborative Instagram posts, social posts and newsletter ads, and ask for quotes on main stage sponsorship, in-market and entrance signage, entrance giveaways and ticket sponsorship.
