About this listing
Overview Miami Rowing Club is a volunteer-run youth and masters rowing club on the Miami Marine Stadium Basin on Virginia Key, and each spring it hosts the Miami International Regatta, which it has run for more than 50 years and which brings more than 600 rowers and about 15 teams, including out-of-state and international crews. Its youth rowers come from schools all over Miami-Dade County, and the club is open to anyone from 12 to 99. The club was founded in 1973, is a 501(c)(3), and takes no money from government, schools or other athletic programs. On site The club's year runs on four events. The Middle School Regatta in the fall is organized by MRC's varsity rowers, with music, food vendors and a carwash fundraiser the varsity team staffs. The Blue Blazer Gala in winter is an evening at the MRC Boathouse, looking out on the Marine Stadium and the downtown skyline, with a silent auction, dinner and dancing. The International Regatta takes the basin in spring, and a May awards dinner closes the season. A Thanksgiving event honors the legacy of Luciano Mercenari and raises scholarship money for the club's rowers. Audience Families run the club. More than 200 family members handle its support and fundraising, and the club describes its families as loyal and eager to back the businesses that back it. At the gala and the awards dinner the room is MRC families and supporters; the regatta adds visiting crews from around Florida, other states and abroad. Track record In the 2025-26 season nine MRC boats qualified for the 2026 Youth Nationals. The club has competed nationally and internationally and has been featured on ESPN. Brand presence The lead sponsor takes presenting naming rights to the International Regatta, the Blue Blazer Gala and the Middle School Regatta, banners around the venue and the boathouse terrace, its name on the regatta's VIP bracelets and on the overall winner's trophy, naming of one race, and a tent at the regatta. Below that, a name can go on a racing boat, a set of eight oars, the practice shirt every rower wears or the boat trailer. Year-round, the monthly happy hour, the boat dock and the launches carry sponsor names.
