About this listing
Overview The Michigan Chicken Wing Festival fills Adado Riverfront Park in downtown Lansing with wing vendors over two days of Labor Day weekend, and its eating contest ends with the top three eating seven next-level hot wings in three minutes, then sitting through a five-minute burn with nothing to drink. The festival cares less about how many vendors come than about how many flavors they bring. Wings are bought vendor by vendor, and in 2026 each day ran from 2 to 9 p.m. with a main stage, a VIP tent and a kids zone. Part of the proceeds goes to the Against All Odds Foundation, which pays for groceries, prescription co-pays, phone bills and rides to medical appointments for cancer survivors and runs Lillian's, a free store for families at the Lansing Mall. On site The main stage books acts from every genre, from the Midwest and beyond; in 2026 Lee Grove and Tamilikia Foster hosted the afternoon open mic and a guest DJ closed Saturday. The wing-eating contest runs each afternoon for ten contestants, and in 2026 Sunday added a line-dance contest. The VIP beer, wine and spirits tent sits near the stage, and VIP tickets come with wing samples from selected vendors, a drink punch card and an hour's early entry. Around them are cornhole, inflatables in the kids zone, a health and wellness pavilion, craft and merchandise vendors and community resource tables. Audience People settle in for the afternoon: the park provides no general seating, so the crowd brings its own lawn chairs and blankets. In 2026 admission was free until 5 p.m., and children 14 and under got in free with a paying adult. The crowd also picks a winner, voting for its favorite wing vendor on a limited run of People's Choice cards handed out at the gate. Brand presence The festival sells its own pieces by name: the presenting title, the VIP beer and wing tent, the main music stage, the kids zone and inflatables, the wing-eating and People's Choice contests, and the vendor row. The eating-contest winner takes a trophy and cash, and in 2026 two runners-up each won a bottle of Presidential Sauces, redeemed at The Carters' tent.
