Overview Millennium Park is the 24.5-acre park at the center of downtown Chicago, run by the City's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) and home to Cloud Gate, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Crown Fountain and Lurie Garden. It draws about 25 million visitors a year. Entry is free. The partnership is with the park itself, not one event: activations, large-scale sampling and consumer experiences on ordinary park days or alongside the free festivals DCASE produces there. On site Frank Gehry's Jay Pritzker Pavilion faces the Great Lawn, where crowds spread out on blankets under a steel trellis that carries the sound system. Cloud Gate sits on Grainger Plaza. The tree-lined Chase Promenade runs three blocks from Monroe to Randolph and holds markets and festival footprints, and Wrigley Square anchors the Michigan Avenue corner. In winter the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink opens beside Michigan Avenue and the city's Christmas tree goes up at Michigan and Washington. Activations sit on the promenades and lawns; the central promenade by Cloud Gate stays clear. Audience Office workers on lunch and tourists on a bucket-list stop share the park daily. Summer concerts draw a local crowd with more African American attendees than any park event but the gospel festival. Film nights skew young, about half people of color. Saturday workouts draw mostly women, often in gym groups, and the Blues Festival brings more visitors over 65 than anything else. Talent and Influencers The park hosts the Chicago Blues, Gospel, House Music and Jazz festivals, the Summer Music Series, the Summer Film Series, Summer Workouts and the Chicago Holidays season. Blues Festival stages have hosted Mavis Staples, Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Koko Taylor and Christone "Kingfish" Ingram. Jazz Festival alumni include Herbie Hancock, Esperanza Spalding and Gregory Porter, and Summer Music Series bills have included Sheila E., Arrested Development and Aterciopelados. Track record The Chicago Blues Festival is the largest free blues festival in the world, and the Jazz Festival makes the same claim for jazz. Film nights run near capacity. Blankets go down at 4 p.m. The winter season alone brings more than 100,000 skaters to the ice rink, a full-capacity crowd to the tree lighting and thousands of shoppers to the holiday market. Brand presence Park landmarks carry the names of founding corporate partners: the Chase Promenade, the BP Bridge, the Boeing Galleries, the Exelon Pavilions and Wrigley Square. Wells Fargo presents the Summer Film Series, the McDonald's Active Lifestyles Endowment funds free workouts and skating lessons, and Chicago Public Media and the CTA back the summer concerts. A partner can activate during a DCASE event to meet that event's audience, or on other park days on terms set with the city.
