About this listing

Overview The Millennium Park Summer Film Series is free Tuesday-night cinema at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, programmed by DCASE's Chicago Film Office on a 40-foot LED screen from late June through mid-August. It has run for more than two decades. The presenting sponsor's name travels with the series across every screening night, on site and in the city's promotion. On site Gates open at 5 p.m. and films start at 6:30. Crowds often near capacity, and people claim spots on the Great Lawn as early as 4 p.m. with blankets, inflatable loungers and picnic dinners, which gives a sponsor a long pre-show window. Select nights open with themed programming such as character appearances, movie props and sing-alongs. A 60-second spot can run on the big screen before the film. Audience The series draws a local crowd: 70 percent are Chicagoans and about half identify as people of color. It has a higher share of young adults than any other DCASE event, close to half of the audience. Women make up about 62 percent, and 40 percent report household incomes above $100,000. Talent and Influencers The lineup mixes anniversary picks and crowd favorites. Recent screenings included Independence Day, Ratatouille as a kickoff to Taste of Chicago, Hamilton, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Devil Wears Prada, a Rob Reiner double feature and Sinners. Earlier seasons showed Wicked, The Sandlot and Love and Basketball. Track record Attendance grew again last season, and the lawn regularly fills well before showtime. The series is one of the park's longest-running summer traditions and brings repeat families and friend groups back week after week. Brand presence Wells Fargo is the presenting sponsor, with the Chicago Transit Authority, the Millennium Park Foundation and Millennium Garages as sponsors. Pluto TV presented earlier seasons. DCASE sells the presenting position, nightly space-only activations and pre-film screen time for brands that want reach without staffing a booth.
