About this listing
Overview The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is professional rodeo's championship: the top 15 money winners of the season in each event compete in all ten rounds over ten straight December nights at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. The seven events are bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding, and a National Finals Breakaway Roping was added alongside them in 2020. Las Vegas Events stages it with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, and with the Women's Professional Rodeo Association for barrel racing. On site The rounds are the center, but the building runs hours before them. The ProRodeo Zone hosts the Rodeo Live pre-show each afternoon, there is an AXS Fan Zone, and the Cowboy Corral opens its doors at 4:30 with a live band fifteen minutes later. The 2026 layout added a bar renamed the Cowboy+ Bar, a 2,500-square-foot glass-enclosed balcony with a view of the Strip, and kept the Bull 'N Barrel Saloon. Around the city the rodeo's own calendar runs daytime programming, contestant autograph sessions, the Downtown Hoedown, a Junior NFR for young competitors and the Cowboy Christmas gift show. Talent and Influencers Stetson Wright set a single-season all-around earnings record of $817,088 in 2025. For 2026, Las Vegas Events named two Vegas NFR Icons: Fred Whitfield, an eight-time PRCA world champion, and Bob Tallman, the longtime voice of rodeo. Track record The finals started in Dallas in 1959 and spent 20 years in Oklahoma City before a 5-5 PRCA board vote, broken by association president Shawn Davis, sent them to Las Vegas, which had guaranteed a $1.8 million prize fund for the cowboys against Oklahoma City's $900,000. The first Las Vegas edition ran in 1985. The rodeo had reached 260 consecutive sold-out performances by 2011, and the purse hit $10 million in 2015. The 2025 edition, the 40th in Las Vegas, drew its highest total attendance since 2014. Brand presence Wrangler became the rodeo's first title sponsor in 2001. AXS was named exclusive primary and secondary ticketing partner in 2026, with its name on a fan zone at the arena, and Texas Precious Metals was named presenting sponsor of Cowboy Christmas for 2026. The Cowboy Channel and its Cowboy+ app took over the broadcast in 2020, and the inventory follows the coverage: a brand can sponsor a single discipline or the breakaway championship, title the nightly Rodeo Live pre-show, or buy commercial time and branded digital content around it.
