Overview The NYCRUNS Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon runs point to point across the borough, starting in Greenpoint, following the East River waterfront beneath the Williamsburg, Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, then climbing Fulton Street and Flatbush Avenue past Grand Army Plaza to a finish inside Prospect Park. It is a USATF-certified, chip-timed half on the last Sunday in April, and the 2026 results were scored in four divisions: women, men, nonbinary and handcycle. NYCRUNS, the Brooklyn race company behind it, stages about two dozen events a year, and this is its flagship. On site Runners go off in waves from 7:00 to 9:40 in the morning. Nine fluid stations with water and electrolytes sit a mile to a mile and a half apart, with bathrooms and medical support between them, and Prospect Park Track Club runs pace teams from 1:30 to 3:00. The finish is a secured area with limited access; past it runners get a New York State apple, a Brooklyn bagel with cream cheese and a finisher medal from a bridge-themed collector series, then meet their people in the Festival Area, where checked bags come back and official merchandise is sold. Paid VIP entries add private tents at the start and the finish. Audience Two-thirds of the 2026 field came from the five boroughs, with the rest from 49 states and 68 countries. Every runner has to pass through the expo: bibs, shirts and bag check are handed out there and not on race morning, unless the runner has paid to have them mailed. NYCRUNS races double as meeting points for running clubs and crews, and Kamen Yatov of Brooklyn, the one runner to finish every edition since 2011, ran 2026 on a platinum bib. Track record The race began in 2011 as the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon, a few hundred finishers in Prospect Park. A half was added in 2018, both distances moved onto a borough-wide course with a North Brooklyn start in 2022, and it became a standalone half in 2023. Finishers: 24,603 in 2025, 28,052 in 2026, an event record. NYCRUNS says 2026 made it the third-largest half marathon in the country. More than 500 charity runners raised money for 33 nonprofits that year. Brand presence The 2026 expo moved to the Greenpoint Terminal Warehouse on West Street, near the start, and ran three days, Thursday to Saturday, with local businesses and exhibitors on the floor beside bib pickup, bag check and course information; NYCRUNS said the move was about supporting small businesses. The Marriott New York Brooklyn Bridge is the race's booking hotel and MarathonFoto shoots the course. Nonprofits apply each year for cause-partner places, with charity teams fundraising through their entries.
