About this listing
Overview The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon starts at the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum, on the site of the April 19, 1995 bombing, and opens with 168 seconds of silence, one for each person killed, before runners set off on a course lined with 168 banners bearing their names. The marathon is a certified single loop through downtown, Bricktown, past the State Capitol and through northeast Oklahoma City's historic neighborhoods, and it is a Boston qualifier. Race weekend carries six events: the marathon, half and quarter marathons, a 5K, and a Kids Marathon and Senior Marathon whose runners log 25 miles beforehand and finish the last 1.2 on race day. The race began in 2001 as a fundraiser for the Memorial, and its proceeds go to the Memorial and Museum. On site The Kids Marathon, Senior Marathon and 5K run on Saturday; the quarter, half and full go on Sunday morning. A Health and Fitness Expo with vendor booths runs Friday and Saturday, and a Finish Line Festival meets runners at the end. Community groups host cheer zones along the course. Marathoners get six and a half hours of course support, with cutoffs at mile 7.5 and mile 20. The race runs under the name Run to Remember, with its own app and a weekly podcast with the race director in the run-up to race day. Audience The 2026 field came from all 50 states and 17 countries, and every participant gets free admission to the Museum that sits at the start. Runners raise money for the Memorial through the race's own fundraising platform, and the Kids and Senior Marathons put children and older runners into the same weekend. Talent and Influencers The race brings in ambassadors: in 2026 they were Meb Keflezighi, Deena Kastor, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Jenny Simpson, Zouhair Talbi, Biya Simbassa, Dakotah Popehn, Rory Linkletter and Marko Cheseto. Linkletter won the half that year in 1:10:56. Steven Baker of Tulsa won the marathon in 2:23:18, close to the course record, and Steven Scalzo took his eighth hand-crank wheelchair title. Track record The first race in 2001 drew just under 5,000 participants. The 2026 edition, the 26th, drew nearly 30,000 across six races, a record, and the expo set its own attendance record that year. Brand presence Devon Energy presented the 2026 race, and Paycom, Hobby Lobby, Mercy and Oklahoma Children's Hospital are among the major sponsors on the race site. Vendors take booths at the two-day expo, and businesses and community groups can host a cheer zone on the course. Sponsor levels run from entry through bronze, silver, gold and platinum.
