About this listing
Overview Palmeiras is the São Paulo football club with 12 Brazilian league titles, more than any other club, and its men's team won the Copa Libertadores in 1999, 2020 and 2021. It plays at Nubank Parque, its own arena, built on the site of its old ground in the Água Branca district. In 2026 it entered four competitions: Série A, the Copa do Brasil, the Libertadores and the Campeonato Paulista, which it won for a 27th time. Italian immigrants founded the club in 1914 as Palestra Itália; it took the name Palmeiras in 1942, after Brazil entered the Second World War against Italy and the government banned names tied to the Axis. Matchday Nubank Parque opened in November 2014 and was called Allianz Parque until May 2026, when the club's supporters picked Nubank Parque from three options in a vote. A roof covers every seat in the bowl, and the pitch is artificial turf. The club owns the arena and WTorre runs it under a 30-year agreement, booking it for concerts between matches; Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney and BTS have all played there. Audience Supporters call the club Verdão and carry a pig as their emblem. The pig started as an insult: rivals used it against the club's Italian community, and in 1969 Corinthians fans let one loose on the field during a match. In the 1980s the Palmeiras crowd took the animal back as its own mascot, and in 2016 the mascot was named Gobatto after the marketing director who had pushed for it. Its support is counted among the largest in Brazil. Talent and Influencers Abel Ferreira, the Portuguese coach appointed in 2020, took the Libertadores in 2020 and 2021, the Copa do Brasil in 2020, Série A in 2022 and 2023 and the Paulista in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2026. The academy has sold players on to Europe: Endrick to Real Madrid, Estêvão to Chelsea and Vitor Reis to Manchester City. Track record Brazilian titles: 1960, 1967 (two national competitions that year), 1969, 1972, 1973, 1993, 1994, 2016, 2018, 2022, 2023. Copa do Brasil: 1998, 2012, 2015, 2020. In 2025 the club finished second in Série A and lost the Libertadores final to Flamengo. Brand presence PUMA took over the kit from Adidas at the start of the 2019 season. In 2026 Sportingbet held the front of the shirt and Leapmotor the back, with further partners on the shoulders and sleeves, and the back of the shirt also carries a position under the number. The kit is worn across all four competitions, so a shirt partner appears in Libertadores away matches around South America as well as in Série A.
