About this listing
Overview The Pennsylvania National Horse Show is an 11-day indoor hunter and jumper championship in Harrisburg, and nobody walks in off the street to compete: horses and riders qualify on points earned at US Equestrian shows across the country during the year. Its best-known class is the Dover Saddlery/USEF Hunter Seat Medal Final, where about 300 junior riders ride for one title. US Equestrian classifies the show as a Heritage Competition, one of the longest-running indoor championships in the United States, and the 2025 show was the 79th. The Pennsylvania National Horse Show Foundation, a 501(c)(3), turns the proceeds into grants for therapeutic riding and equine rescue programs. On site Everything happens under one roof at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex, more than 24 acres of it: stabling for over 2,000 horses, two main show rings with seating around both, two warm-up rings and a schooling ring, plus vendor aisles, a bar and lounge and VIP table service. Juniors take the first days and professionals and amateurs the second week, with hunters in the ring daily and jumpers every evening. The nights have names. Hunt Night brings local fox-hunting clubs in with their horses and hounds, Team Night fills the stands with local sports teams, Foundation Friday runs the Therapeutic Riding Championships, and Grand Prix Saturday closes on the $100,000 Grand Prix de Penn National with music and T-shirt tosses. Audience The core crowd lives at the show for a week or more: riders, trainers, owners and grooms stabled in the building, and some of the horses carry price tags in the millions. The show's own survey puts the average value of horses owned per household at $87,000, and 91% also own a dog. Local families come for the evening classes and for Family Day on the first Saturday, with pony rides, carriage rides, a petting zoo and face painting alongside Junior Weekend. Talent and Influencers Olympians and World Cup riders compete alongside juniors and amateurs, and college prospects ride the USEF/NCEA Junior Hunter Seat Medal Final. Junior teams from across the country ride for gold in the USEF Junior Jumper Prix des States. In 2025 Olivia Sweetnam of Wellington, Florida, won the Dover Saddlery/USEF Hunter Seat Medal Final on Efendi after two rounds and a final test of the top four. Track record In 2024 the show paid out more than $700,000 in prize money and its foundation awarded nearly $100,000 in grants to more than 41 therapeutic riding and rescue organizations. Every ring is livestreamed on USEF Network, which counted 198,620 views across the 2023 and 2024 shows, and The Chronicle of the Horse gave it an October cover story. The show says its travelers bring about $10.5 million a year to the Hershey-Harrisburg region. Brand presence Sponsors build their own package from a menu rather than buying fixed tiers, with levels named for jewels from Opal up to Blue Diamond. Options run from naming a class, a division or a special award to sponsoring the livestream, a hospitality area or a single jump in the ring. On site that means ring signs and wraps, the jumbotron and scoreboard scroll, daily PA announcements and award presentations, with VIP tables, corporate boxes and vendor booths available.
