Overview Portland Beer Week is ten days in June of more than 100 beer events spread across the city's bars, taprooms, bottle shops and restaurants, with beer festivals, brewer's dinners, pairing parties, seminars, film screenings and challenges on the calendar. It is a citywide run of events rather than a single festival, and it bills its home as the greatest beer city on earth. A very small independent team organizes it, and the people who started it were beer journalists, taproom and bottle shop owners, craft beer entrepreneurs and brewery marketers. Its own line on itself: "not corporate, we are craft." On site There is no one gate or grounds. Each venue hosts its own event under the week's calendar, so a night might be a brewer's dinner in a restaurant, a tasting at a bottle shop, a seminar or a festival on a beer hall patio. The programming reaches past the pint glass into food pairings, beer ice cream, artwork and design, film and science, with games and challenges mixed in. Participation is open from neighborhood pubs up to large distributors, and the organizers keep the minimum investment to take part small. Track record The week started in August 2011, during the Beer Bloggers Conference in Portland, with a dozen or so events and a budget of a couple hundred dollars. By 2026 the calendar ran to more than 100 events. The organizers list coverage in The Oregonian, the Portland Mercury, Willamette Week, Eater PDX, the Portland Tribune, Portland Monthly, local radio and Forbes. Brand presence In 2026 the sponsor page listed Loyal Legion, Block 15, Mosaic Taps and Breakside Brewery. Past partners have ranged from the local press and radio - the Portland Mercury, Willamette Week and 94/7 KNRK - to Portland State University, Oregon State University, Google Places, Columbia Distributing and The Caputo Group, alongside the beer halls and breweries that host events.
