Overview The Pumpkin Harvest Festival is Saco Main Street's largest event and the city's favorite fall tradition. For one Saturday in October the grounds of the Dyer Library and C.K. Burns School, just off Main Street, turn into a pumpkin patch, a craft and food market and a carnival for kids. Admission is free, and whole families make a day of it. On site Highlights include the pumpkin patch, a costume parade, live music, pony rides, a carnival game area, trunk-or-treat and the famous pie-eating contest, alongside dozens of craft, food and local business booths and a row of food trucks. The presenting sponsor names the festival and hangs its logo on a banner across Main Street for the two weeks before it; every level from $300 up includes a booth. Audience Local families with young kids, grandparents and regional day-trippers from across York County and southern Maine. It is a multi-generational crowd in a spending mood, shopping handmade goods, buying lunch from the trucks and picking out pumpkins, and a natural fit for banks, credit unions, auto dealers, home services, healthcare and family brands. Talent and Influencers Local bands play through the day, costumed kids march in the parade, and pie-eating contestants draw the biggest crowd of the afternoon. The makers and farm vendors in the booths are neighbors that attendees already know, and Saco Main Street volunteers run the carnival games and the hay-bale logistics. Track record The festival is a long-running Saco tradition that draws thousands of people each year and fills dozens of vendor booths, and it has recently moved from Main Street itself to the Dyer Library and C.K. Burns School grounds to make room for more activities. Saco & Biddeford Savings has presented it for several years running.
