About this listing
Overview The Salt Lake City Marathon starts on the Olympic Legacy Bridge at the University of Utah, a little over 4,800 feet up, and descends into the city with the Wasatch Mountains in view, past Temple Square to a finish downtown. Race day carries a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K and a kids' 1K, and the Quality of Life Expo opens the day before. The full name is the University of Utah Health Salt Lake City Marathon presented by Bank of America. High Altitude Special Events Management owns and produces it. On site The marathon and the half share the start line on the bridge. The course winds through Salt Lake neighborhoods on its way down from the university, and the finish downtown turns into the Finish Line Festival, with exhibitors. The day before, the Quality of Life Expo runs as the race's vendor hall. Audience Part of the field runs as Huntsman Heroes, training and fundraising together for the Huntsman Cancer Institute, the race's official charity. Track record The race was first run in 2004, added a bike tour in 2005 and a half marathon in 2006, and the 2027 race is the 24th. Salt Lake City Weekly readers have twice voted it the best running event in Utah. The 2020 race was postponed and then canceled. Huntsman Heroes had raised more than $6 million since 2003, per the race. Brand presence University of Utah Health holds the title and Bank of America presents the race. Sponsor tiers are named for the climb, Treeline, Basecamp and Summit. Brands can also take space at the Quality of Life Expo or the Finish Line Festival, which both sell exhibitor spots.
