About this listing
Overview San Francisco Pride is a free two-day LGBTQ+ celebration whose Sunday parade sends more than 200 contingents 1.6 miles down Market Street, with San Francisco Dykes on Bikes traditionally out front, into a street festival at Civic Center Plaza. That festival fills the plaza on both days. 2027 is the 57th edition; 2026 ran under the theme Resistance in Action. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit produces it and sums up its mission in four words: educate, commemorate, celebrate, liberate. On site In 2026 the parade stepped off at 10:30 in the morning at Beale and Market. The celebration ran noon to 6 both days, with entry gates at Market and Grove and Civic Center station on BART and Muni as the transit stop. A Main Stage anchors the plaza, and color-named community stages carry their own programs: Soul of Pride, People's March, Latin, Indigiqueer Two-Spirit, Hip Hop Hooray, and the 18-and-over Root of Pride. Around them sit the Sundance Saloon, Faery Freedom Village, Leather Alley and the Cheer SF Performance Space, plus 236 exhibitors and food vendors across four zones in 2026. Bags must be clear or clutch-sized, and outside alcohol stays out. Audience Many of the people on Market Street are in the parade. The 2026 contingent list ran from the San Francisco Fire Department and the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, alongside nonprofits, companies and city agencies. Behind the scenes, volunteers from more than 50 local nonprofits staff the grandstands, accessibility areas, beverage sales and donation gates, and each group earns a grant based on the hours its people work. Talent and Influencers Honey Mahogany and Sister Roma hosted the Main Stage on the Sunday of 2026, with Aly and AJ, Kamaiyah and Stephan Jenkins on the bill. Saturday on the same stage went to API Saturday, produced by the team behind the API stage. Track record The event traces to June 1970, when 20 to 30 people marched down Polk Street and a gay-in at Golden Gate Park drew several hundred the next day before police broke it up. The first formal parade followed in 1972, and from 1973 to 1980 the event ran as Gay Freedom Day. The Community Partner Program has granted more than $3 million to local LGBTQ+ nonprofits since 1997. Brand presence Companies take part the same way community groups do, as parade contingents: Amazon and Apple both marched in 2026, and contingents compete for parade awards picked by a panel of community judges. Inside the celebration, Red Bull ran its own bar and stage in 2026. The 2026 sponsor roster on sfpride.org included Kaiser Permanente, Salesforce, Gilead, Alaska Airlines, Sutter Health, Target, Apple, BMO and Genentech, and the City and County of San Francisco, Grants for the Arts and the Recreation and Park Department back the event.
